A ProofScore is a 0–100 composite trust score generated by checking six independent data sources. Here's how the math works.
The Six Data Sources
- State Registration (25 pts) — Is the entity active? Type verified? Officers listed?
- Business Age (15 pts) — Years in operation based on formation date.
- Domain Age (10 pts) — WHOIS registration date.
- Google Reviews (15 pts) — Rating, review volume, and Business Profile completeness.
- BBB (10 pts) — Grade, accreditation, and complaint history.
- Website (10 pts) — SSL, contact info, legal pages, page load speed.
- Social Media (5 pts) — Platform count and activity signals.
Red Flag Deductions
Certain combinations of bad signals trigger automatic deductions — for example, a brand-new domain combined with no physical address and no state registration will result in a large penalty.
What the Score Means
- 80–100 — Trusted: Strong signals across all sources.
- 60–79 — Verified: Mostly positive with minor gaps.
- 40–59 — Caution: Mixed signals — proceed carefully.
- 0–39 — Warning: Multiple red flags detected.
